The skipper of the Rivers United in the game against ASEC Mimosa Morice Chukwu has said the team technical adviser Stanley Eguma made it compulsory for them to cancel the goals they conceded in Congo.
The Nigerian champions lost the opening group game heavily to Diables Noirs and required numerous goals to be back in contention.
And they responded positively on Sunday by thrashing the Ivorian side 3-0 at the Goodswill Akpabio stadium.
He thanked God for the goals and victory recorded in the game.
“I thank God for the victory and the 3 goals before they told us that we must approach the game as the cup final.
The coach told us to fight harder to cancel the goals we conceded in Congo and we thank God that we cancelled the goals and still got 3 points.
We are looking more prepared as we are going to DR Congo and believed that we are going to work together to get more victory”, he said.
Rivers United will face Motema Pembe in the 3rd group game .
