Nigeria Professional Football League champions Rivers United secured a favorable result in Libya and qualified for the group stage of the confederation cup.
Rivers United at the Adokiye Amasiamaka stadium in Port-Harcourt last week defeated Al Nasr of Libya 5-0 to put one step in the next round of the competition.
Arriving in Benghazi, Libya on Monday Nigeria’s side faced a lot of threats and antics from the fans of Al Nasr ahead of the game.
The second leg match which was played late on Wednesday started with the host dominating the game and was able to score in the first half.
Rivers United players gained more confidence in the second half and started making an incursion into the penalty area of Al Nasr.
Their efforts paid off midway into the second half with Nyima Nwagua scoring an equalizer to end the game 1-1.
Rivers United qualified for the group stage 6-1 on the aggregate scoreline.
