Multiple reports in Cameroon have confirmed that football federation president and ex-international Samuel Eto’o tendered his resignation on Tuesday during the executive committee meeting held at the Yaounde Hilton hotel.
The meeting was scheduled to evaluate the performance of the Indomitable Lions at the ongoing African Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire, Eto’o tendered his resignation to the members of the federal executive organ, inviting them to do likewise in good faith.
However, at the end of discussions and deliberations, the members of the Executive Committee decided to maintain their current mandates and unanimously rejected the President’s resignation, thereby renewing their confidence in him to continue reconstructing and developing Cameroon football, the press release from the federation explains.
Five-time Champions Cameroon were eliminated in the round of 16 after suffering two goals to nil defeat to the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
