The hopes of Nigerian descent Owen Goodman to represent the England U-20 national team have been dashed after the coach of the team decided not to include him in the final squad for the fast-approaching FIFA U20 World Cup set to go down in Argentina
The teenager snubbed Flying Eagles’ invitation earlier this year after it was reported, that he was asked to pay for his trip to Nigeria, and will be reimbursed by the NFF upon his arrival
Instead, he switched his attention to England U-20 and also made his debut against Spain a few months ago
The 19-year-old Crystal Palace shot-stopper has a British father and a Nigerian and before the invitation to the England U-20 squad, he has been capped by England’s U-18s, and rose through Palace academy, becoming a reliable keeper for Paddy McCarthy’s U-18 side.
He has made more than 23 appearances for Crystal Palace U-21 this season in the Premier League 2 Div 1
