Football-playing individuals across communities in Lagos can now showcase their talents as 1X(One X bet) packages Community Cup football fiesta that kicks off October 3, 2023.
Lagos stood still on Monday, Sept 23 during the unveiling ceremony of the event held at Radisson Blue Hotel Ikeja.
Nigerian ex-international and championship coordinator, Waidi Akani, while revealing the objectives of the program, said a total of 40 teams drawn from various communities across Lagos state will battle for the #1m prize money set aside for the winning team while the runners-up and third-placed teams get #500,000 and #300,000 respectively.
Mr. Akani also informed that the Lagos State Football Association will receive 500 balls and 500 bibs to aid football development in the state.
Adding that the initiative is the best way to create bonding for non-league players that are scattered across the communities
Meanwhile, the chairman of the Nigeria National League, Mr. George Aluo who was at the unveiling/ draws ceremony, applauded the organizers of the community cup football championship for their foresight.
Adding that grassroots development is the best way to go if our football must develop beyond its present position
