10 Men Barcelona rescued themselves after Araujo’s red card in an important game against Valencia at Camp Nou.
FC Barcelona lost their last Laliga match against the relegation zone suffering Almeria by 1-0. They returned to their form when they beat Real Madrid in the Copa Del Rey 1st Semi-Final at Santiago Bernabeu by 1-0.
Barcelona dominated play as usual having more of the ball and Valencia tried to breach their backline with the speed of their counterattack. The “BACK” remained rock solid as Valencia failed to put them into trouble.
In the 15th minute, Sergio Busquets gave a brilliant lofted through pass to Raphinha and he made no mistake with his header. Barcelona got the early lead and they continued to dominate over Valencia’s midfield but failed to breach the backline for the second time.
A Valencia defender was judged to have used his hands in the penalty area. Guillamon’s handball incident awarded a penalty to Barcelona but Ferran Torres missed a golden opportunity to double up the lead.
Araujo got a red card when he fouled Javier Alberola Rojas as the last-man defender from a Jules Kounde mistake pass.
Valencia got the momentum and they made plenty of chances but were not clinical to find a goal. They also had a penalty call waved off by the referee.
The match ended 1-0 and Barcelona somehow rescued themselves after a tiring game and extended their lead on the top of the table to 10 points.
