Everton started life with newly appointed Sean Dyche with a valuable win against league leaders Arsenal earlier today at the Goodison Park.
Everton going into today’s fixture had been winless in their last ten matches recently sacked Frank Lampard and appointed former Burnley coach Sean Dyche to salvage the remainder of the season. And the new sense of belief and desire was even from the opening whistle when the Toffees restricted the visitors free-flowing attack by an excellent midfield display.
Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah fluffed his lines in front of goal while Bukayo Saka saw his effort saved by an Evertonian defender. Everton finally broke the deadlock of the game when James Tarkowski scored the first goal of the Sean Dyche era after nodding from a corner kick off the boot of Dwight McNeil in 60th minute.
The victory saw Everton move from 19th to 18th on the Premier League table and will next play against city rivals Liverpool on the 13th of February.
Meanwhile Arsenal’s loss will put some pressure on second place Manchester City who cut the lead of the Gunners to two points if they defeat Tottenham at the New White Hart Lane Stadium.
