The hope of Enyimba International to get a positive result in the rescheduled game was dashed on Wednesday as they suffered a 2-1 defeat to Katsina United.
It was Michael Ibe who netted the opening goal in the 25th minute to peg back the attacking threat of the People’s Elephant.
Chijioke Mbaoma who just recovered from injury proved his mettle once again as he scored a leveller for the away side in the 42nd minute.
The champions dominated the second half and the home fans were kept on the edge of their seat for most of the second half.
Andrew Idoko pumped up the volume in the 72nd minute netted the winning goal for the host and sent the entire stadium into a rapturous mood.
Enyimba pressed hard in the final minute but they were unable to get the necessary equaliser as the game ended 2-1 in favour of Katsina United.
