The Ondo state commissioner for youth and sport, Hon. Bamidele Ologunloluwa has said the state club, Sunshine Star football club is open for privatization and still open for sale to the right investors.
Sunshine star was rumored to be up for sale last year, a report which stirred a lot of controversy and grumbling among the football stakeholders.
The Honorable Commissioner confirmed that the clue needs to be privatized while speaking in an interview on Fresh 102.9fm akure on the program “sports life”
“The government is saying we need the club privatized, in that way the government may be funding the club but it’s not going to be hundred percent, then the private organizations can come in and partner with the club,” he said
He further stated that if a bigger organization or brand comes in for sunshine star it will be sold immediately.
“If a club like Manchester United for example says there is a club in one state and we want to have them as our feeder’s team, are you saying we are not going to sell? We will sell immediately” he stated
The Sports Commissioner also spoke about the fact that club privatization will create more jobs in the state.
