The NPFL game at the Lekan Salami Stadium, the home ground of Shooting Stars SC lived up to expectations as the “battle of the stars” between Shooting Stars and Remo Stars ended in a draw.
Coach Gbenga Ogunbote of 3SC made two changes to the team that beat Kwara United in Akure in the MD 12 while Coach Daniel Ogunmodede of Remo Stars made four changes to the squad that drew goalless to Gombe United last weekend
Desmond Agekpornu opened the scoring in the 10th minute through a well-taken volley with the assist provided by stand-in captain Opeyemi Olufemi.
Opeyemi Ayarinde came close to making it two in the 13th minute for the home team but Remo Stars GK Kayode Bankole did well to stop the shot and deny his former team a chance to double their charge
Remo Stars attacker Anaekwe Samuel also missed the chance to equalize in the 16th minute before halftime ended 1-0 in favour of the home team.
The second half started very well for the away team dominating possession while trying to get an equalizer but the Shooting Stars’ defense proved too stubborn to give in to the threats of Remo Stars.
Remo Stars finally had their breakthrough in the 69th minute through substitute Okon Aniekeme through a well-taken header for a well-deserved equalizer.
Both teams created chances to regain the lead but there was no breakthrough for any of the teams as the game ended in an entertaining 1-1 draw
With the recent draw, Shooting Stars have now dropped eight points at home while Remo Stars extended their unbeaten run against 3SC to six games
